Hi Folx! I'm Dr. Smith Kidkarndee (Dr. K) (he/him/they/them), and I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 14 years of extensive experience in the psychodiagnostic assessment and evidence-based treatment of individuals across the lifespan impacted by anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder (i.e. social phobia), and other social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. I am an integrative clinician with training in various cognitive-behavioral therapies (i.e., Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)), as well as Interpersonal Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I am also certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), EMDR with Flash, and certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) - "Keep the knowledge, Lose the pain."
My primary psychotherapeutic modality is ACT as it builds insight and explores healthy ways to accept those things that are out of your control and commit to changing those things that can be changed to make your life better. This is a very active therapy. It’s a therapy in which you actively learn new skills to improve your quality of life.
I also specialize in LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy. Affirmative therapy is an approach to therapy that embraces a positive view of LGBTQ identities and relationships while addressing the negative influences that heterosexism (i.e., heteronormative assumptions, institutional heterosexism, and heterosexual privilege), homophobia, and transphobia have on the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
